It’s like Planes, Trains and Automobiles except that the autos are buses instead.
Now that Midwestern favorite Megabus has some routes in Texas, I’ve decided to try it out this week on a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend an AWC (Association for Women in Communications) National Board of Directors meeting.
It’s also an excuse to try Amtrak’s daily Heartland Flyer passenger train from Fort Worth to Oklahoma City, which I’ve wanted to do for awhile.
The only way that I could get from Oklahoma City to Tulsa on the last leg was via Greyhound bus lines; I haven’t ridden Greyhound since college, but why the heck not?
In between transportation changes I’m going to pack in some Tourism Currents business meetings with the Arlington, Texas and Oklahoma City CVBs (Convention and Visitors Bureaus) …. if everything works, this will be a productive few days.
Megabus, Amtrak and Greyhound are all on various social media channels, so I hope to interact with them there during the trip.
I’m not completely crazy, though.
I will fly back home on Southwest Airlines. 🙂
