Welcome to the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, where we tour the world in a single post, via submissions from a variety of different blogs, all about any aspect of one, single city or fair-sized town.

We normally publish every other week; the next edition will be hosted on the Perceptive Travel blog.

If you would like to host a future Carnival edition on your blog, please contact me as the Carnival organizer:  Sheila “at” sheilascarborough “dot” com. You do need to register on the carnival administration website (it’s easy and free) to submit to this or any blog carnival.

Here’s more info and background about the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, and now….

Off we go!

Cities in the Americas

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada   Zhu shares street photography in Candids in Ottawa posted at Correr Es Mi Destino, saying, “Maybe it’s my voyeur side but observing strangers in the street is fascinating, and capturing a moment is always rewarding.”

Tavernier, Florida, USA   Sharon Harvey Rosenberg tells the story of Saving Sarah posted at Health, Life & Community | Baptist Health South Florida, saying, “A small community hospital in Tavernier, part of the Florida Keys, doesn’t shy away when the neighbor in need of medical care happens to be a dolphin.”

Los Angeles, California, USA   Leslee Haralson talks about her favorites at The Getty-A Museum for All posted at Ready for AdventuresReady for Adventures, saying, “One of the wealthiest Americans of the 20th century, J. Paul Getty desired to open up his private art collections to the public. He began doing this in his private home, then he constructed the Getty Villa in Malibu, and finally, with monies from his trust after his death, the Getty Museum was completed in the late 1990’s. Now everyone is invited, free of charge, to view this magnificent art collection.”

Volcano, Hawaii (The Big Island,) USA   Byteful Travel steps carefully near Halema’uma’u Crater, Volcano, Hawaii (Lava Lake & Devil’s Throat Photo Essay) posted at Byteful Travel, saying, “The more I think about it, the more grateful I feel about my unexpected visit to the Halema’uma’u volcanic crater. I’ve discussed the specifics of that story in a previous article, but today I’d like to immerse you in some unreleased photos that I took on that incredible day, including two super zoom shots of the roiling lava itself. As I said before, the site was at once fearsome and magnificent, and I’m excited to share more from this incredible active Mt. Kilauea caldera, the home of Pélé herself.”

Tunica, Mississippi, USA   Lisa Konupka lays ’em all out in Don’t Miss This Year’s Hottest Events in Tunica posted at Down the Road in Tunica MS Blog.

Cities in Asia

Kovalam, Kerala, India   I wrote about Swimming to Infinity in Kerala on the Perceptive Travel Blog; an early morning dip in an infinity pool above the Indian Ocean.

Cities in Europe

Redu, Belgium   Vanessa Morgan turns the page in Redu, a book town in the heart of Europe posted at Vanessa Morgan.

Lisbon, Portugal   MoTravels finds the secrets in Discovering the Allure of Lisbon posted at MO TRAVELS.
