Too many folks WAY over-complicate social media.
As my Tourism Currents business partner Leslie McLellan says, “It’s NOT rocket science; it’s social.”
The screenshot above is an enjoyable exchange on Twitter between me (who likes to visit OKC and tell people about it,) the Oklahoma City CVB (Convention and Visitors Bureau) and one of their tourism partner businesses, Pie Junkie.
What’s remarkable is that I don’t see this nearly often enough …. CVBs, DMOs (Destination Marketing Organizations) and their partners really listening to social media conversations and responding in a way that shows their personality and makes them appealing to prospective visitors and guests.
This sort of friendly chat also leads to new customers, because it’s simply word-of-mouth made public online where anyone can overhear it.
That’s exactly what happened when one of my Twitter followers saw our pie tweets:
Yep, really, it’s that simple.
Serve up some humor and fun with your social media! Pie optional.
